Pointe

The dream comes true!

Have you always dreamed of slipping on iconic pointe shoes to pirouette like there's no tomorrow? The time has come! For this ballet class, you'll need to get yourself some pointe shoes (over at Rossetti!). You can also take your first class in socks to test the waters before diving in! You must have ballet experience and be taking technique classes at the same time to work on pointe.

The class is split into two parts: we kick things off with 30 minutes at the barre, including warm-up, strengthening, and pointe technique work. Then, intermediate dancers move to the centre for more advanced exercises, while beginners continue working at the barre, do some strengthening or stretching, or even join the centre work off-pointe. That way, we can give extra special love and attention to everyone, whatever your level 🙂

Heads up! Teachers will ask dancers to come down off their pointe shoes if they feel their technique isn't quite secure enough for their safety.

  • 30 minutes of beginner barre

  • 15 minutes of intermediate centre (optional)

  • Classical music

  • All levels welcome!

It's all about being comfy and feeling super fierce! Leggings & a tank top or a leotard & tights—anything goes. All you need is a pair of socks or ballet slippers, a reusable water bottle, and a hair tie is definitely recommended. We'll also lend you a yoga mat!

Yes, this class is designed so anyone can jump in at any point during the season!

Totally! The class is designed to adapt to beginner through intermediate dancers. If you've never done ballet before, start with a few seasons of Petite technique to master the basics. Generally, we recommend one or two years of regular practice before jumping into pointe. If you're comfortable with ballet technique but new to pointe, just make sure you keep taking technique classes alongside this one. You can join the 30-minute beginner barre, and then during the intermediate centre, we'll invite you to keep up your strengthening, barre work, or jump into the centre off-pointe. Heads up! Teachers will ask dancers to come down off their pointe shoes if they feel their technique isn't quite secure enough for their safety.
