POLICIES AND TERMS

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully. Any registration with Ballet Hop! is equivalent to acceptance of all the conditions set out below. Booking one or more activities implies knowledge, understanding and acceptance of these general and specific conditions.

Inclusivity

Ballet Hop! studios are accessible and inclusive places, where all people are welcome. We value diversity in all its forms, whether related to gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, origin or culture, physical appearance, language, disability, age or any other identity factor. We randomly use feminine, masculine and inclusive writing in our communications in order to simplify the text.

In order to protect our clients, we reserve the right to stop services and/or refuse to serve anyone who exhibits hateful or disrespectful behavior that does not comply with our rules of use or whose actions threaten their own safety, that of others or that of Ballet Hop! personnel, without any notice, reimbursement or compensation.

Health and security

Ballet Hop! implements security measures through secure facilities, kinesiologist-approved programs, certified instructors, etc. Customers who join Ballet Hop! accept that any physical activity presents a risk of injury and take responsibility for it. It is the responsibility of each client to consult with a healthcare professional before beginning any physical training program, and to declare to Ballet Hop! any situation regarding their health. A fitness questionnaire is sent to each participant with their registration: completing it and keeping it up to date is the responsibility of each client.

Access to the studio

Clients must register at the reception desk before each activity. Each client must have their own class card or subscription. Payment must be made before access to the studio or the planned activity. The Mile-End, Verdun and St-Lambert studios are accessible with the same membership or class card.

It is possible to register on the waiting list if a class is full. As soon as a spot becomes available, an email is sent to the first person on the waiting list. The client must respond within 12 hours to secure the spot, otherwise the place will be given to the next person on the waiting list. It is the responsibility of each customer to ensure that they properly receive communications from Ballet Hop!.

Class cards

Class cards (1, 6, 12, 24) are non-refundable and do not expire: they are prepaid cards. They can be transferred one (1) time to another person.

Unlimited subscriptions

The unlimited week is offered to new customers only. It gives access to all our classes for 7 days and does not renew. The monthly subscription gives access to all our classes for 30 days and renews automatically. These two subscriptions are non-refundable. Once the month has started, it is considered used. It is possible to pause the monthly subscription upon request, for a minimum of seven (7) days and for a maximum of three (3) times per year. You can also completely cancel the subscription at any time if you request it before the next renewal date.

Kids camp

The kids camp includes a specific contract which must be read and signed by the parent or guardian before the start of the camp. The kids camp can be exchanged or refunded before it begins. An absence on one or more of the days of the purchased camp does not constitute a reason for refund. Complementary services, such as daycare, are subject to the same terms and conditions.

Ballet Hop Retreat

50% of the price of adult retreats is considered a security deposit and is neither refundable nor exchangeable. The retreat can be exchanged for another type of service or for a later date depending on availability, 30 days before the start date of the retreat. No exchanges or refunds will take place less than 30 days before the selected retreat. Additional services, such as room reservations, are subject to the same terms and conditions.

Subscription to online courses

The subscription to the Ballet Hop! Online classes platform is an auto-renewing monthly payment. The subscription can be suspended for a minimum of seven (7) days, a maximum of three (3) times per year – or canceled directly in the customer account used for the purchase. Live classes and the Instructor Training, once opened, are non-refundable.

Special/private events

Special events, such as intensives, Instructor Training, studio rentals, and children’s parties, among others, are non-refundable. They can be rescheduled depending on availability, if canceled at least 48 hours in advance. Apéro Hop and private lessons are non-refundable and can be rescheduled if canceled at least 12 hours in advance. A 50% non-refundable deposit may be required to make the reservation. Additional services, such as creative workshops and the festive cocktail, are subject to the same terms and conditions.

Boutique products

Items purchased in store can be exchanged within 7 days of purchase if they have not been used, if they have all their labels and original packaging. Exceptions: hygiene products, earrings, make-up or cosmetics, food, underwear.

Class reservations and cancellations

Ballet Hop! uses the MindBody platform for activities management. Clients can book their classes in advance if desired. Once the reservation is completed, we ask for a 12h notice to cancel, free of charge. In the event of late cancellation, the class will be debited from the account, or, in the case of unlimited membership, a sportsmanship fee of $10 plus taxes may apply.

Photos and videos

As part of our activities, we sometimes take photos and videos of the participants. By being a client of the studio, you agree that Ballet Hop! can capture your image by photo or video and use it to promote its activities. Instances of such photos or videos are always mentioned during the activity and all those present have the choice to withdraw from the captured scene at any time. It is also entirely possible to request the removal of a photo or video if needed. The photos and videos thus captured are not sent to other participants or used for any purpose other than Ballet Hop!’s social media.

Studio Communications

Ballet Hop! sends a monthly newsletter to its customers who request it. We may also communicate with you regarding your account, payment method, class cancellations, etc. It is the responsibility of each client to ensure that they properly receive the appropriate communications.

Taxes

The amount of applicable taxes will be added to any price quoted.

Children

Children’s courses are offered for the age groups mentioned. Lessons for adults are accessible to people aged 12 and over, or from 8 years old if the child is accompanied by his parent. Ballet Hop! reserves the right to refuse access to an adult class to a child who is unable to participate adequately.

Data Protection and Privacy

We treat the personal data of our customers with utmost care. Our MindBody platform adheres to the highest standards of personal information protection (available at https://support.mindbodyonline.com/s/article/220544067-MINDBODY-s-PCI-Compliance-Information?language=en_US)

Questions about memberships and class cards2024-09-26T19:24:17+00:00

Our classes are never free, because the work of our teachers and our reception team is valuable! But you can easily buy a single class to try. We also have an unlimited introductory week at $46 +tx or a trial class for children at $12 +tx 🙂

It’s a two-step process: purchase your class card or membership, then book your spot in the class of your choice. Once you have purchased one or more classes, you can book all of your chosen classes, or decide as you go  (but some classes fill up more quickly). Either way, you can change your reservations up to 12 hours before class. We also like drop-ins!

We’re so sorry you missed class (for real). We know that sometimes it’s just impossible. However, we require 12 hours’ notice to be able to offer your spot to people who are on the waiting list. If you don’t give us 12 hours, we can’t join them and that’s too bad for us and for the other customers. That’s why your class is lost, but don’t worry, we know you’ll make up for it next time!

Class cards are non-refundable, but they do not expire. It is set up this way to give you more flexibility! Subscriptions are non-refundable and can be paused or stopped upon request.

A purchase at Mile-End, Verdun or Saint-Lambert gives you access to the services of the three studios, yay! On the other hand, Fleury and NDG are franchises, and their class cards and subscriptions are exclusive to the studio where they were purchased.

The waitlist will send a text message to all people who are registered on the waitlist, as soon as a place becomes available. The first person to respond will get the spot. Several places may become available, so stay tuned!

Questions about facilities2024-09-26T19:18:26+00:00
No showers, but changing rooms, yes! We also offer washcloth stations if you need them. No need for a lock, these are ballet-style changing rooms where you leave your coat, and bags can go into the studio!

Mile-End: neighboring streets, some free, some with vignettes. On Saint-Laurent Street: quite expensive parking meter.

Verdun: neighboring streets, some free, some with vignettes. On Wellington Street: inexpensive parking meter.

Saint-Lambert: parking located on the side and at the rear (be careful to respect Ricardo’s signage!)

NDG: neighboring streets, some free, some with vignettes. On Sherbrooke Street: inexpensive parking meter.

Fleury: neighboring streets, some free, some with vignettes. On rue Christophe-Colomb, free spaces, on rue Fleury: inexpensive parking meter.

Yes! We have all that, and if we’re missing your size, we can usually have it within a week.

Questions about kids classes2024-09-26T19:16:30+00:00
Yes, we offer a trial class for children at $12 + taxes 🙂 That being said, it is really normal that your child does not “participate” very actively from the start. Indeed, just watching, then entering the class, speaking to the instructor, joining the group and finally, dancing, are normal stages of learning. Give your child a few lessons to feel comfortable!
As long as your child feels good and cute, it’s perfect! Leggings & camisole or leotard & tights, anything does the trick. Fairy wings encouraged! However, you need a pair of leather ballet shoes (mandatory for safety), a reusable water bottle, a hair tie is recommended.
Yes! For our young dancers, allow a few weeks for adaptation. In general, there is no problem to start at any time. However, we recommend coming every week so that kids do not have to reacquaint themselves with the place and the group each time, and can learn as much as possible!
Classical ballet as we know it is not appropriate for children under 7 years old. It can create joint problems, growth problems, injuries and surpass children’s ability to concentrate. It would be against our ethics to offer “real” ballet to toddlers, which is why we do pre-ballet, in which we learn equally important things: rhythm, musicality, movement, directions, the body in space, textures, group work, memory, proprioception… Trust us: your 4 year old will develop a great passion instead of knee problems!
On the contrary, your child who is sitting on the floor the whole class is actively participating! Standing and dancing is the LAST step in the process of integrating the child into the class. The whole process includes looking from the window with mom, entering the room for two minutes, then agreeing to talk to the teacher or friends, and finally being able to stay there alone during the class hour. So don’t be discouraged, your child who is a little shy learns just as much and reaches the final stages of their integration!

We know that all parents like to see their little one at work and we understand 100%, but the answer is no. Apart from parent-child lessons, we ask parents to leave the studio quickly when their child arrives/not to squish their faces in the windows/not to block everyone’s passage in the door frame. This allows the instructor and assistant to do their work, and the little ones to concentrate. A bit like daycare or school! A recital in the form of an open class is also planned three times a year.

Each person who attends classes at the studio must have their own class card. So for two children, two class cards. That being said, we offer a $10 discount for references, so each child benefits from a discount on their lessons, ask us at reception!

Make sure you register the child under their own name, not yours!

Check that their age is correctly indicated in their account. Without a date of birth, the system will not allow children to register for classes.

Make sure you are choosing the correct age group.

Book classes on the computer rather than on the app!

Questions about classes2024-09-26T19:29:24+00:00

You dance but it was a while ago –> Yes.
You’ve never danced –> Yes.
You are a boy –> Yes.
You are overweight /flat feets/white hair/curves/ no flexiblity/the memory of a goldfish –> Yes.

Anyway, THERE IS A SPOT FOR YOU HERE! In fact, the only thing missing is you!

First time with us? We suggest you start with our signature Sans chichis class (French for “no fuss”). It’s a happy mix of training and ballet, to try it all. Then, our Corps de ballet barre workout will make you sweat (in a good way!) and Petite technique will make you feel like a real ballerina. Try Floor Barre for a calming but hard-working class, Stretch to finally hit your splits, or Contemporary for free dancing! Finally, if you want a good foundation on the barre, we recommend our Care Barre class!

When it comes to clothing, it’s about being comfortable and feeling pretty fierce! Leggings & tank top or leotard & tights, anything does the trick. However, you will need a pair of ballet shoes or socks (we sell cute ones at the store if you need them!), a reusable water bottle, a hair tie is highly recommended. Everything else is available on site – yoga mat provided for free!

Yes, the classes are built to allow everyone to join them anytime throughout the season.

*HOWEVER: technical classes may require 2-3 weeks of adjustment if you join them during the season, because we progress over the weeks. You simply have to go at your own pace and trust the process 🙂

Technology sucks and you can't find what you want?
